About
We work on one thing only: making a group visible to itself.
Where it comes from
From the retrospective. It is a workshop borrowed from agile methods: every two weeks, the people who work together stop for an hour and say what worked, what got stuck, what ought to change.
Two things frustrated us. The first: once the workshop is over, what was said is hard to consult again. Rereading it, cross-checking it or counting it takes work that we do not always make time for.
The second: follow-up hangs by a thread. The actions decided are usually written down, but knowing whether the problem raised in March is still there in June, or how many times it has come back since, in fact rests on the memory of those who were in the room.
That said, the retrospective has one merit: it builds a team. By saying together what is going well and what is not, people who work side by side become a group.
Hence the idea: a platform where everyone files their testimony whenever they want, and where the group decides for itself what it wants to follow. The starting hypothesis came down to one question: if a group takes hold of a testimony tool, does that change the way work is organised?
The reality of the market
The first obstacle was the fear of free text. A platform where any subject can be discussed is unsettling: you do not know what will be written there, nor what you will have to do about it.
The second runs deeper. Quality of working life is still a byword for emergency, rarely for foresight: people call once something has already broken, not to stop it breaking.
After a year and a half, the conclusion was simple: change or shut down. It was AD Conseil, an occupational psychology practice, that opened the other door for us, the one to workplace harassment investigations.

What we build
Two pieces of software, two moments: one for when an investigation is open, the other for when a group speaks up throughout the year.
The investigation software
The tool prepares, you conclude
It anonymises, labels, dates and sources. Interpretation, the debrief and the conclusion remain your profession.
Nothing is asserted without its source
Every fact is dated and tied back to the testimony it was drawn from. That is what makes a debrief defensible.
The coding framework is yours
Shipped with the software, built from the themes that surface from the testimonies, or created by hand. Three routes, a single grid: yours.

The open testimony platform
Speech should travel up, not down
Workplace listening tools are top-down: management asks the questions, employees tick the boxes. Here, it is the ground that says what counts, in its own words.
The group before the individual
What is interesting is not who is speaking, but how a group stands in relation to the way work is organised. An isolated testimony reads as a feeling; a body of them tells the story of a system.
A questionnaire only finds what it is looking for
Closed questions put bounds on the answers. Open testimony lets through what nobody had thought to ask about.
